The
greenhouse gas carbon dioxide (CO2):
Carbon
dioxide is a colourless and odourless gas. It is a natural ingredient
of ambient
air. It is one of the by-products of complete combustion and is exhaled
by all
living beings. The combustion of fossil fuels results in additional
CO2,
enhancing the natural greenhouse effect.
The
combustion of one litre of petrol fuel produces approx. 2,380g of CO2.
One litre of diesel fuel produces approx.
2,660g of CO2.
